Vassiliki Pappas

Hey! I’m Vassiliki (she/her/hers)!

I am a provisionally licensed clinician that specializes in working with children, teenagers, and young adults working through traumatic experiences, life transitions, anxiety, and low self-esteem. I received my education from the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at St. John’s University. Since 2017 I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults in various settings providing a variety of mental health services including psychosocial rehabilitation and respite. I work to empower individuals by utilizing a collaborative and eclectic approach in order to focus on what each individual person needs rather than have them fit the mold of a specific theory. I have experience utilizing strength based approaches, psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, creative arts therapy, play therapy, movement therapy, and culturally sensitive counseling. I believe that the mind-body connection is key in order to gain balance in one’s life and be equipped in processing feelings and emotions.

Through my own personal practice in yoga, meditation, martial arts, and physical exercise, I have found that by understanding how emotions may manifest physically, mentally, and emotionally this can work as a strength in identifying what works for you. Every person is unique and has a different worldview and because of this I like to tailor approaches based on the individual's needs. My goal as a clinician is to aid in supporting my clients throughout their therapeutic journey and empowering them to work towards achieving their goals.
